Oprah Winfrey had to play it pretty cool during the general election in her support of Barack Obama, but she’s not holding anything back on her show today.
According to the Chicago Tribune, she told her audience in a live show from Chicago on Wednesday, that Obama’s election victory speech was “one of the most electrifying and emotional nights I’ve ever experienced.” She wore a “Hope Won” T-shirt and called it “a new day for America.”
Winfrey had said that she would not use her show as a platform for Obama during the campaign.
“So I kept my mouth shut and supported Barack Obama as a private citizen,” Winfrey said to her studio audience. “Today, though, the election is over and I’m unleashed!”
“For those of you who have been loyal viewers who voted differently than I and 52 percent of the country did, I respect your choice and understand how you might be feeling — somewhat disappointed today — just as I would be,” Winfrey said.
A clip from the show is here. And Winfrey was interviewed by CNN last night…
