Election Night backstage at the Daily Show

From the Daily Show/Colbert Report party: Among those in attendence backstage at the Daily Show/Colbert Report one-hour live special were Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Sigourney Weaver, and Comedy Central chief Doug Herzog. Weaver, who admitted she was “beginning to get excited” about the outcome at 9pm Eastern, said of her choice of venue for the big night, “Honestly, these guys have gotten us through the last eight years, so we wanted to be here whatever happens.”

Tim Robbins recounted his ordeal that morning, when his polling place had no record of him. Refusing a paper ballot, he had to see a judge who administered the court order. Five hours later, he was finally permitted to pull the lever. Unfortunately, he said, “I was just one of many” who had difficiulties at Gotham polling places. (Michael Flaherty)
