Trio of ATV executives resign

Hong Kong network shuffles top posts

HONG KONG — Three senior execs resigned Monday from Hong Kong’s commercial broadcaster Asia Television, which installed two new toppers last week.

Executive VP Dewy Ip and senior VP of news and public affairs Peter Kwan ankled, while senior engineering VP Howard Ho retired. Kwan and Ho had been with ATV for more than 10 years; Ip joined the network in June last year. The resignations were effective immediately.

A spokesperson for ATV said the trio left to “pursue personal interests.” He declined to comment on whether the resignations were linked to ATV’s appointment of executive chairman Linus Cheung and CEO Ricky Wong.

With the arrival of new controlling shareholders ABN-Amro and the Cha brothers, who hold 58.4% of the broadcaster, ATV has undergone extensive ownership changes. The group remains in the red and last month cut 63 staffers, citing declining advertising revenue.
