SAG elects new vice president

David Hartley-Margolin tapped by board

David Hartley-Margolin has been elected as third VP of the Screen Actors Guild, the top elected post among SAG’s regional branches.

Hartley-Margolin represents the Colorado Branch and was elected Friday by the board of directors of the regional branches. He succeeds Steve Fried, who did not seek another term but continues to serve on the national board representing the Arizona Branch.

The Hollywood division had elected Anne-Marie Johnson as First VP earlier this month, replacing Kent McCord, and the New York branches re-elected Sam Freed as Second VP.

SAG’s national board meets Saturday and Sunday in Los Angeles and must decide whether to send out a strike authorization to members on the feature-primetime contract, as recommended by the guild’s negotiating committee. SAG hasn’t met officially with the congloms about the contract, which expired June 30, for more than three months.

SAG’s national membership meeting will be held Sunday afternoon following the national board meeting at the Marriott Los Angeles Downtown.
