Quebec’s Zone 3 to open new division

Canadian TV co. to focus on English fare

MONTREAL — French Canadian TV producer Zone 3 is opening a division to focus on English-language fare and has recruited TV vets Michael Kronish and Isabelle Bourduas.

Kronish, who will act as exec producer, has credits that include the sex-industry series “Webdreams” and upcoming series about Vancouver cops “The Beat.”

Bourduas, who will head international production, was most recently head of production at Montreal-based producer Cineflix, where she helped bring “Austin Stevens” to the Discovery Channel and oversaw the production of “Zero Hour” for History Television.

Montreal-based Zone 3 produces more than 700 hours of TV content each year, making it one of the dominant players in Quebec.

English shows being developed include the reality series “Eight Women on the Verge” and the makeover show “Teen Dream Bunker,” both adapted from French-language shows already on the air in Canada.

Company is also developing a feature documentary on the late Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh, to be directed by Joe Berlinger and produced by Van Gogh’s longtime friend Bruce Weiss.
