MTV to create Latin American hub

$76 million going to Buenos Aires complex

BUENOS AIRES — MTV Networks Latin America will invest around $76 million over five years to build a production and creative hub in Buenos Aires.

The Viacom company is equipping a 33,370-square-foot studio and office, installing technology and setting up production and other services for supplying its operations in Latin America. Growth initiative will create 200 jobs, up from 30 staffers in 2006.

MTVNLA wants to harness Argentina’s large talent pool and concentration of indie producers for creative output for its pay TV channels, said Linda Alexander, the division’s senior VP of corporate communications and public affairs.
