‘Mad Men’ tuning up revue

Plans are still in the formative stages

Lionsgate is working on a plan to book more dates for the “Mad Men” musical revue that played the El Rey Theater in L.A. last month as a benefit for the L.A. chapter of the Recording Academy. The show featured musical numbers from the “Mad Men” early ’60s era and a dash of Rat Pack-esque shtick performed by supporting cast members of the Emmy-winning AMC drama.

Plans are still very much in the formative stages, but it’s understood Lionsgate execs are hoping to book a date early next year in Las Vegas and New York. A swing to London and Australia is also being considered, as the live event could help promote the launch of season two of “Mad Men” in Blighty and Oz. (The show is heading into its third season on AMC next year, though creator-exec producer Matthew Weiner’s contract is still being negotiated.)

The details of which thesps would participate in the shows are also still being hammered out. Word is that some of the “Mad Men” troupers who didn’t take the stage at the El Rey are now interested in participating.

The Oct. 21 show at the El Rey, billed as “A Night on the Town With ‘Mad Men,’ ” was hosted by Joel Murray and featured fan faves including Bryan Batt, Robert Morse, Colin Hanks, Patrick Fischler and Maggie Siff warbling tunes that ranged from early Dylan to pop and jazz standards.

The El Rey event was the brainchild of “Mad Men” composer David Carbonara, who led the 13-piece orchestra and presumably would reprise the same role for the additional dates.

Lionsgate declined comment.
