Korean exec launches distribution co.

Michelle Son gets behind M-Line

SEOUL — Michelle Son, head of sales at Korean production and sales company Showeast for six years, has launched her own sales outfit, M-Line Distribution.

“I’d like to focus on international co-productions and sales of international films while handling Korean films as well,” Son said. Company will present a slate of six movies at the upcoming Asian Film Market in Pusan.

Lineup is headed by trio of Korean films: “Evil Spirit: VIY,” which will be screened in the Vision section of the fest; romantic drama “Hello, School Girl,” by Ryoo Jang-ha (“The President’s Barber”); and Shin Min-a (“Go Go ‘70s”) starrer “Kitchen.”

Through an agreement with U.S.-based movie investor Film Financial Services, M-Line is also handling international sales for the U.K.-New Zealand comedy “Sisterhood,” the Fred Dresch drama “Little Bear and the Master” and the Nichelle Nichols starrer “The Torturer.”
