Exec named Central, Eastern Europe ops

LONDON — Entertainment giant Endemol has hired another high-profile senior executive as new topper Ynon Kreiz continues to reposition the company.

The latest recruit is former Central European Media Enterprises exec VP Marina Williams, who is joining Endemol as CEO of Central and Eastern European operations.

Williams has 17 years’ experience in the region, which includes Russia, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine and Greece.

Her career includes helping to launch international and local channels. Williams has worked for CNN Intl., Cartoon Network, Jetix and Fox Life; Russia’s first commercial broadcaster, TV-6; terrestrial Bulgarian network bTV; and Ukrainian web Studio 1+1.

Her mandate will involve beefing up local output in Central and Eastern Europe, including scripted shows, and establishing new production bases.

She will work alongside Endemol’s chief commercial officer Tom Toumazis, the ex-Disney topper who will join the “Big Brother” company in January. He has been recruited to spearhead the company’s move into third-party distribution.

Williams, based in London, takes up her new role in January. She will report to Marco Bassetti, Endemol’s chief operating officer.

“Central and Eastern Europe is one of the fastest growing TV markets in the world and is one of the focal points of our growth strategy,” said Bassetti.
