Joanna Drake Earl has been upped to chief operating officer of Current Media.

The first exec hired by Current founders Al Gore and Joel Hyatt, Earl will take responsibility for Current TV’s network operations.

Previously president of new media, she’ll maintain oversight of broadband and other emerging platforms for Current.
