Media regulator Ofcom has tapped economist Colette Bowe as its new chair, replacing David Currie.
Bowe is an Ofcom board member whose previous media work includes a stint running public affairs at Ofcom’s forerunner, the Independent Broadcasting Authority.
The regulator oversees the U.K. communications sector, including broadcasting and telcos. Top of its agenda is its latest review of public service broadcasting. It could have far-reaching implications for the future of financially challenged Channel 4, which is lobbying for a subsidy.
