Ascent merges post-production ops

John Malone subsidiary consolidates trio

LONDON — Ascent Media, a wholly owned subsid of John Malone’s Discovery Holdings, has finessed its London post-production operations by merging One Post, St. Anne’s Post, Stream and Media Management into one brand — Ascent 142.

Name is a nod to Ascent 142’s new address — Film House, 142 Wardour St. –in London’s Soho.

The 60,000 square foot site will offer feature, TV, DVD and content management services. As part of the move, the company has invested $4 million in facilities.

Work on Bond 22 “Quantum of Solace” will be Ascent 142’s first project.

“We are expanding our services under one roof to accommodate our growing business and our customers changing needs,” said Ascent 142 topper David Barrett at the Thursday evening launch party. “There will be no redundancies and no change in the management structure.”

Improved technological links to California were played up.

“With so many more projects working internationally, we are perfectly positioned to work with our Santa Monica and Hollywood facilities. We now have a 2.5-gigabit pipe in place, which allows data to be securely shared between London and the U.S. The transatlantic divide is starting to disappear thanks to technology,” said Adrian Bull, Ascent’s chief technology officer.
