The U.K.’s "Simply Ballroom" troupe of 18 world-champion dancers launching its U.S. tour March 2 in Hartford, CT. The group will preview a sampling during the 9 p.m. hour of the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy telethon on Sunday, September. 2. Ten members of the company wing from London to Las Vegas to perform. Debbie Reynolds, who joins the group as host in its upcoming tour, will not be on the telethon preview. She’ll be performing on the high seas, cruising to Greece. "American Idol" finalist Vonzell Solomon, who also stars in the "Simply Ballroom" U.S. touring troupe, sings a number on the telethon, as will Jeff Trachta, alumnus of "The Bold & the Beautiful." . Scott Stander, a producer of the tour, tells me Debbie will sing "Tammy" in a production number, which will feature the song as a waltz. And, of course, it won’t surprise if Debbie steps out to waltz. I reached her (by cell) as she was readying to go on stage Wednesday night at Resorts Atlantic City and she confirmed she’ll return to her own cross-country concert tour when she winds the 18-city "Simply Ballroom" trek. "I play 32 weeks a year on the road," said the indefatigable Reynolds. "I guess I’ll do it until I drop dead. I love dancing," Who can forget seeing her initial tapping talents with Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor in "Singin’ In The Rain" in 1952 when she was 20. As for " "Simply Ballroom," she says she’d dance if they ask, " I’ll do whatever they want — I could dance all night."
