At H-hour today, Academy president Sid Ganis was still promising that the show would not go “much over 3 1/2 hours.”
He reminded that there are 177 nominees, but extolled producer Laura Ziskin for a short show.
“One thing I promise you,” Ganis said, “I’ll bring my speech in on time.” I asked if that meant 45 seconds. He laughed.
There was a late addition Saturday night to the show when “Dreamgirls” director Bill Condon, who was not nominated, did however rush over to the Kodak to direct the “Dreamgirls” musical nominated segment. He was happily welcomed for his generosity.
