“There’s always something to strive for” said John Demsey, Global President of MAC Cosmetics and Estee Lauder Companies and chairman of the MAC AIDS Fund. Demsey and bride Anouschka (Izmirlian), who were married July 28 at La Grenouille in N.Y. are starting their honeymoon in L.A. They were partied Wednesday night by Nikki Haskell at her L.A. penthouse. Demsey has parlayed the marriage between glow and show biz into a charitable bonanza. He dreamed up a merger between hostess Haskell’s weight-losing Star Caps and Lauder’s Viva Glam and wondered about a product with which you could lose weight and “puff up your lips–give shine–and last for 24 hours.” Just kidding…I think.
Among guests toasting the newlyweds was Dita von Teese. She’s MAC’s Viva Glam VI personality. She made (another) splash at Cannes while strip riding a giant lipstick–a la wild bronco. Demsey said, “She’s been a huge Viva Glam favorite around the world–and the sales of Viva Glam have raised $95 million for the MAC Aids Fund since its creation in 1994. Previous Viva Glam personalities include: Ru Paul, KD Lang, Mary J.Blige, Lil’ Kim, Elton John, Christina Aguilera, Linda Evangelista, Missy Elliot, Pamela Anderson, Debbie Harry, Lisa Marie Presley. Another one will be added in January, said Demsey. Among guests was Sharon Stone who is also helping to fight the AIDS battle for AMFAR. Haskell’s terrif caterer Michael Hollingsworth made the wedding toasting terrific tasting. And talking Elton John, above, he’ll head events on Sept.25 and Oct.10 for his AIDS Foundation. The first, a concert at the Waldorf. The second, a star tennis tourney cohosted with Billie Jean King at the Pavilion at Villanova.
