While Hillary Clinton was diagnosing her health care plan for the nation, Lily Tomlin spoke passionately about the need for health care reform now and support for California’s health care Bill 840.
It was at Penny Marshall’s Hollywood home where Kathy Fields Lander had organized the evening’s meeting of Hollywoodians and State Senator Sheila Kuehl. Fields reported to me that Michael Moore had sent a welcoming video to the group plus a music video by The Nightwatchman, inspired by Moore’s “Sicko.”
Don Schroeder’s film, “The Healthcare Solution: California OneCare” video was also screened. The group on hand included Kurwood Smith, Ed Begley Jr., Cindy Williams, David Lander, Polly Bergen, Candy Clark, Tom Bosley, Elliot Gould and Teri Garr, who graciously offered to host the next meeting to bring awareness to Californians of this legislation which is aimed at universal single payer health care.
Senator Sheila Kuehl concisely described the legislation. And Kathy Fields Lander plans to pull together an Entertainment Public Awareness Task Force.
