Channel thrives on U.S. imports

BERLIN — RTL-owned Vox has picked up comedy-drama “Men in Trees.” The ABC skein, which stars Anne Heche as a New York author relocated to a remote Alaskan town, will premiere on Vox in early 2008.

The web has enjoyed huge success with U.S. series in recent years and currently airs hit shows such as “Boston Legal,” “CSI: NY,” “Close to Home,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Crossing Jordan,” “The Closer” and “7th Heaven.”

RTL has had its own success with U.S. series, some of which originally launched on Vox, including “CSI” and “CSI: Miami.”

RTL’s biggest success remains “House,” the web’s highest rated show, which regularly pulls in between 5 and 6 million viewers or more in its Tuesday night slot following “CSI: Miami.”

This week “CSI: Miami” attracted 5.42 million viewers, while 5.5 million tuned in afterwards to watch “House.”
