Premiere tops ratings in New Zealand
HONG KONG — The Walt Disney Co.’s “Ugly Betty” preemed on Kiwi pubcaster Television New Zealand’s TV2 Jan. 16 as the highest-rated show of the night across all demographics and the top-rated program of the year to date.It hit a particular chord with femmes 15-34, scoring 70% of that demo. Mouse House distrib BVITV-Asia Pacific has licensed the show to nine other broadcasters in the region. Next in line is South Korea’s KBS on Feb. 3, then Singapore’s MediaCorp TV on Feb. 5. Malaysia’s 8TV will air the show Feb. 6 and Hong Kong’s TVB Pearl gets it March 15. Australia’s Seven Network, pan-regional Star World, Star India, CJ Media channel CGV in South Korea and Fiji TV also have licensed the show, but haven’t announced launch dates.
