TBS’ ‘Frank TV’ nabs 2.9 mil viewers

'Perry,' 'Engvall' also opened big in 2007

Frank Caliendo’s “Frank TV” made a huge impression on TBS Tuesday night, averaging 2.9 million viewers, a strapping 64% of them people 18 to 49, the network’s demo target.

Strong bow comes in the same year that the net also opened with good numbers for sitcoms “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” and “The Bill Engvall Show.”

Caliendo, whose mimicry conjures up dozens of personages including George W. Bush, John Madden, Dr. Phil and Robert De Niro, had competed five half-hour episodes of the sketch-comedy series before the writers went out on strike. The half-hours will play Tuesdays at 11 p.m. through Dec. 18.

New Wave Entertainment and TBS Prods. are the producers of “Frank TV.” Caliendo is co-executive producer with Matt Wickline, John Bowman and Barry Katz.
