StarHub gathers 2 more channels

History, Crime networks come to Singapore

HONG KONG — Singapore’s telco and cable operator StarHub will add the History Channel and Crime & Investigation Network to its roster of channels June 15.

Both nets are operated by AETN All Asia Network (AAAN), the joint venture between A&E Television Network and Malaysia’s Astro All Asia Networks, which has recently started launching and operating branded channels across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

History Channel, will be offered on StarHub Digital Cable’s Education Basic Group and available in high-definition. CIN will be included in the Family Plus package.

StarHub is the city-state’s only cable player. However, Singapore is opening up pay TV and in January granted the first full license to an IPTV player (Variety Asia Online, Jan 17). The recent string of channel additions is a response to potential competition.
