Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) will open a new TV licensing office in Korea, to be headed by former Buena Vista International Television head of sales Soojin Chung.
The new office will oversee licensing of SPTI product to both traditional media businesses and the quickly evolving new media sector.
Chung, who will hold the title of executive director of licensing, will report to Ross Pollack, SPTI senior vice presi-dent of distibution in Asia. She will also provide assistance in the acquisition of Korean content for the Asian and international markets.
SPTI recectly pacted with Korean conglom CJ media for the distribution of Korean TV dramas and select feature films.
SPTI’s office will open in Kyobo Tower in Seoul later this month.
“Opening a licensing office in Korea demonstrates our continued efforts to better serve our Korean clients and to offer more choices to our customers throughout Asia where SPTI already has numerous commitments,” said Pollack.
