‘Sea’ makes a splash Down Under

TV drama nabs 1.9 million viewers

SYDNEY — Australia’s latest local drama entry, “Sea Patrol,” sailed to a solid ratings win with 1.9 million viewers tuning in to the first episode at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Skein, about the Aussie Naval Patrol Boat Service, helped Nine Network win the night with a 35% share — ahead of Seven (26.8) and Ten (19.2) — and was a positive sign in what is still a weak local drama market.

The aud was the second-highest for an Aussie drama behind Seven’s now defunct “Always Greener” but all eyes will be on the next few weeks to see if it can hold these good numbers.
