N to name winning writers

Network picks pair in Young Voices fellowship

Nighttime network for teens the N will name the two recipients of a $10,000 script development deal Friday as part of the inaugural N’s Young Voices Fellowship.

Program shepherds writing talent from Yale and NYU in order to provide minority college students with an opportunity to win the net’s script development deal.

Spearheaded by Yale alum and Nickelodeon producer Maria Perez-Brown and guided by NYU professor and writer-producer-actor Anna Deavere Smith, four writing teams of two members each were selected as fellowship recipients, receiving a $1,500 prize.

Selected teams attended writing and development workshops with members of net’s development team, who provided advice and technical assistance on show ideas as well as tips on how to present pitches.
