LONDON — MTV Networks Intl. has announced the launch of a new 24 hour dedicated Hungarian service. The new channel will preem Oct. 1.
As with other international MTV channels, MTV Hungary will have its own local programming in addition to the stable of international material.
Channel will be headed up by Levente B. Malnay.
“Our expansion in Hungary is an integral part of the strategy of the Emerging Markets Group and our Hungarian company plays a key role in our growth,” said Bhavneet Singh, senior veepee of MTVNI, Emerging Markets.
MTV has made an energetic push into new markets. Last year, the net oversaw the launches of MTV Turkey, MTV Baltics and Comedy Central in Poland, while MTV Arabiya is set to preem later this year.
The net also launched a WAP portal in Poland in February, while broadband entertainment service MTV on Demand was launched in Romania in April.
