BUENOS AIRES — “Montecristo” fetched the most nominations in the Argentine Assn. of Television and Radio Journalists’ annual Martin Fierro awards ceremony, the country’s version of the Emmys, for 2006 productions to be held May 23.
The revenge tale, which pulled in strong numbers for No. 1 network Telefe and touched on hard issues like kidnappings during Argentina’s 1976-83 military dictatorship, secured 17 noms, including telenovela, director, screenplay and lead actor for Pablo Echarri’s performance.
Artear-Canal 13’s boxer/executive romance novela “Sos mi vida” (You Are the One) trails with 11 noms, followed by its immigration drama “Vientos de agua” with nine and assassins drama “Mujeres asesinas” with eight.
Artear tops the list of favorites with 55 noms, followed by Telefe with 50.
