Exec replaces Bakker

LONDON — Nickelodeon’s U.K. topper David Lynn is to replace London MTV high-flyer Michiel Bakker, whose shock decision to quit was announced last week.

Lynn has been appointed executive VP and m.d. of MTV Networks U.K. and Ireland.

His responsibilities will include all of MTVNI’s London-based activities, including 17 channels, 16 Web sites and four mobile platforms.

Also promoted in the latest changes at the London HQ of Viacom, which is shedding 250 jobs across its European operations, is Heather Jones, who takes up the new role of executive vice president, content and creative.

MTV Networks Intl. president Bob Bakish said, “Having orchestrated two of the U.K.’s hottest media brand successes in Nickelodeon and Paramount Comedy, David and Heather will be a dynamic, talented, management duo to lead our biggest international business.”

Bakker is leaving after 20 years at the music station, which has seen several high-profile exits in recent months.
