LONDON — Further signs of recovery at Blighty’s biggest private web, ITV, were apparent as the broadcaster published a trading statement for the year ending Dec. 31.
This showed a marked improvement in advertising revenues at ITV with net revenues down 0.6% compared with a decline of 8.4% a year ago.
Much of this was due to a strong perf by ITV’s digital channels. The operator said that revenue at these upstart webs had increased by around 32% to $418 million.
Net ad revenues at flagship web ITV1 dipped 4.4% compared with a drop of 12.4 % a year ago.
Executive chairman Michael Grade said: “ITV has made measurable progress during the course of 2007. On-screen ITV1’s performance has been much improved; we have assembled a formidable senior management team; and we’ve seen real growth in the whole television advertising market over the second half of the year.”
