Reality show ends summer run on top
Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen” ended its third season in a blaze of glory Monday night, dominating its hour and posting the unscripted skein’s best numbers of summer.
According to preliminary nationals from Nielsen, “Hell’s Kitchen” averaged a 4.5 rating/12 share in adults 18-49 and 9.8 million viewers overall in the 9 o’clock hour, winning in all key categories and standing as the night’s No. 1 program. it was especially dominant among adults 18-34 (4.3/13), where it beat the combined scores of ABC, CBS and NBC.
For its run this summer, “Hell’s Kitchen” finished up about 10% vs. last year in both adults 18-49 (4.1/11 vs. 3.7/10) and total viewers (8.6 million vs. 7.8 million).
Fox was also strong in Monday’s opening hour with a special Monday telecast of “So You Think You Can Dance” (2.9/9 in 18-49, 7.8 million viewers overall).
Night’s only other original programming, ABC’s “Fat March,” struggled with a preliminary 1.8/5 in adults 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers overall in the 9 o’clock hour.
