BERLIN — Studio Hamburg has joined electrical engineering and electronics giant Siemens for a joint bid on ProSiebenSat1’s production unit, according to local press reports.
Studio Hamburg, a subsidiary of regional pubcaster NDR, is said to be looking to expand its production operations at its Berlin-based Studio Hamburg Adlershof facility.
The deal also includes ProSiebenSat1’s entire data processing activities, making it an interesting prospect for Siemens.
Other interested parties reportedly include Red Bee Media (formerly BBC Broadcast), a subsidiary of Australian investment group Macquarie, along with IBM, and French electronics group Thomson.
ProSiebenSat1 is said to be asking some Euros 250 million ($340 million) for the division, which employs some 1,000 staff.
