Six-session series launched Saturday
The Writers Guild of America West has launched its second annual Showrunner Training Program to train two dozen writer-producers.
The six-session program launched Saturday with remarks from WGA West president Patric M. Verrone, John Wells (“ER,” “The West Wing”), Touchstone Television President Mark Pedowitz, Jeff Melvoin (“Alias”) and Phil Rosenthal (“Everybody Loves Raymond”).
The opening session, entitled “From Writer to Manager,” included a panel discussion with Tim Kring (” Heroes”), Greg Daniels (“The Office”) and Greg Garcia (“My Name Is Earl”).
Upcoming sessions feature Steven Behr (“The 4400”), Yvette Lee Bowser (“Half & Half”), Carlton Cuse (“Lost”), Bill Lawrence (“Scrubs”); producers Iain Paterson and Craig Wyrick and directors Paris Barclay, Kevin Dowling, Lesli Linka Glatter and Barnet Kellman; actress Julie Ann Emery and Stacey Adams, VP current programs, CBS. Other sessions include John Wirth, Glen Mazzara, Ronald D. Moore, Carter Bays & Craig Thomas, Jim Parriott, Veena Sud, Shawn Ryan, Mike Scully and Dawn Prestwich & Nicole Yorkin.
Drama series participants include Janine Sherman Barrois, Samuel Baum , Debora Cahn, Elizabeth Craft & Sarah Fain, Adam Fierro, Ilana Bar-Din Giannini, Jennifer Johnson, Erin Maher & Kay Reindl, Matt Nix, Scott Rosenbaum and Ken Sanzel, Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer, Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson and Wendy West.
Comedy series participants are Jordana Arkin, Janae Bakken, Steve Callaghan, Jerry Collins, Jennifer Glickman, Chris Harris, Laurie Parres, Ajay Sahgal, Danielle Sanchez-Witzel and Kriss Turner.
