Fox Intl. picks up Telecolombia

Founder Rozo to serve as president-CEO

Fox Intl. Channels has snapped up 51% of TV production shingle Telecolombia in Bogota, Colombia. Company will be renamed Fox Telecolombia with its founder Samuel Duque Rozo to take on the post of prexy and CEO.

The shingle will complement Fox Toma 1, the company’s production house for Spanish-language unscripted programs which it created in January.

Combined efforts of both shingles will ratchet up Fox’s Spanish language television production to 2,500 original TV hours a year.

Fox Telecolombia will continue to produce for RCN in Colombia and Univision’s sister web Telefutura in the U.S. The company will also work jointly with other News Corp. divisions to produce content for other clients in Latin America and the United States.

“Our goal is to produce programs that can co-exist with series such as ’24’ in the schedule of our Latin American channels,” said Emiliano Saccone, Senior VP, Marketing and Entertainment, Fox Latin American Channels.

FIC has also bought ClickDiario, one of the largest online ad networks specializing in Spanish-speaking auds. ClickDiario will reach an estimated 25 million unique users including FIC’s online publishing unit in Latin America.
