SYDNEY — Strong demand for skeins such as “Mythbusters” helped Aussie TV production company Beyond Intl. post a 34% rise in its first-half net profit to A$2.5 million ($2 million) on revenues up 13% to $27.6 million.
Beyond topper Mikael Borglund also pointed to increased revenues from the purchase of DVD retailer Force Entertainment.
“The big thing we are doing through Force this year is releasing ‘Baywatch,’ the first two series go out in March,” he said.
Borglund was also positive about the second half of the year when the numbers will benefit from Beyond’s decision to get out of the film biz. Beyond announced in January that it would shutter the money-losing division.
