Newsmag renewed for three more seasons
Syndie newsmag “Extra” will keep churning out celeb news and gossip through 2010.Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution has renewed the Telepictures-produced skein for three more seasons. Studio has also inked hosts Dayna Devon and Mark McGrath, along with senior exec producer Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey, to new multi-year deals. “Extra” renewal comes on the heels of the studio locking up new deals with key NBC-owned stations,including those in Gotham, LA and Chi. Overall, WBDTD said “Extra” has been cleared in markets repping 95% of the country. Now in its 13th season, the three-year extension will keep “Extra” on the air through its 16th season. It’s the second longest- running entertainment newsmag in syndication, behind only CBS Par’s “Entertainment Tonight” and ahead of NBC U’s “Access Hollywood.” “Extra” will soon get some internal competish on the celeb beat from “TMZ,” a newsmag strip that’s being spun off of the Time Warner- owned website of the same name. The Fox-owned stations have agreed to air the latter skein. Renewal for “Extra” was announced by WBDTD prexy Ken Werner and Telepictures Prods. prexy Hilary Estey McLoughlin.
