The Australian Broadcasting Corp., lambasted of late for its poor drama content, Monday upped Miranda Dear to drama topper.
Dear — who joined the pubcaster in 2005 — co-executive produced critically applauded skein “The Silence,” as well as “Stepfather of the Bride” and the upcoming “Rain Shadow” and “Librarians.”
“Miranda has a long association with the development and production of diverse and high-quality film and television drama,” said ABC topper Kim Dalton, adding that the pubcaster was “significantly increasing our level of production.”
Dear was previously at the production arm of pubcaster SBS where she commissioned Oscar-winning animated short “Harvie Krumpet” and features “Look Both Ways” and “Somersault”.
Before that, Miranda was the senior film buyer at Blighty’s Channel 4 Television.
