CW launching reality show ‘Crown’

Girion will exec produce via Fox TV Studios

The CW is getting ready to launch a beauty pageant — with a family twist.

Net Friday will announce an eight episode order for “Crowned,” a competition reality skein in which mothers and daughters will team up to win a pageant-style contest. Laurie Girion (“Last Comic Standing”) will exec produce via Fox TV Studios.

Series seems designed to explore the complex relationship betweens moms and daughters by throwing them into the stress-filled world of beauty pageants. Weekly episodes are expected to feature various challenges, such as a swimwear competition or a production number.

A panel of judges will weigh in each week and will ultimately crown a winning duo. It’s believed producers are looking for a celebrity mother-daughter pair to serve as judges.

In addition to a title, winners are also expected to walk away with a six-figure cash prize.
