Network acquires 'Terminator,' 'Eli Stone'

Canuck network CTV announced Tuesday that it has acquired five U.S. skeins that will air in January, alongside the start of season seven of “American Idol” and several new Canadian movies and miniseries.

CTV will premiere “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”; “Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann”; the drama “Eli Stone,” starring British thesp Jonny Lee Miller; reality series “Oprah Winfrey’s The Big Give”; and drama “Lipstick Jungle,” starring Brooke Shields and adapted from the Candace Bushnell book.

CTV will also air the Oscars, the Golden Globe Awards, the Super Bowl and Canadian music awards the Junos.

In addition there are new seasons of Canadian series including “Degrassi: The Next Generation,” “Robson Arms” and “Instant Star.” These shows may get more attention than usual if the Writers Guild strike drags on into January and the web loses some of its high-profile U.S. fare.
