MONTREAL — Howie Mandel, John Pinette, George Lopez and Billy Connolly are among the funnymen set to perform at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal for the event’s 25th anniversary. The lineup for the Canuck yukfest was unveiled Tuesday in Montreal.
Mandel is set to host the galas July 18 and 19; Pinette and Lopez will host on July 20. The galas are the fest’s marquee shows and take place at the St. Denis Theatre in Montreal’s Latin Quarter.
Other gala performers include Lewis Black, Tommy Tiernan, Russell Peters and Susie Essman. The main English-language events take place July 12-22.
The “Family Guy” cast — including Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis, Seth Green and Mike Henry — will do a stage version of the show, and a “Kids in the Hall” show, featuring the reunion of original cast members Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson, will world preem.
Also, the cast from CBS comedy “How I Met Your Mother” will perform a show titled “Celebrity Autobiography: In Their Own Words.”
As always, there’ll be a slew of shows in clubs across Montreal, with nearly 200 comics performing, including Dave Attell, Dom Irrera, Sinbad, Bill Burr, Andy Kindler, Tom Papa and Greg Proops.
The series includes the foul-mouthed “Nasty Show”; all-British “Britcom”; “Tune In,” mixing music and comedy; “The Asian Invasion”; the Italian-themed “Wiseguys”; “O’Comics,” featuring Celtic standups; and “New Faces of Comedy,” which is one of the key showcases.
There will also be a gala hosted by Italian performance artist Arturo Brachetti and created by Montrealer Franco Dragone (a.d. of Cirque du Soleil’s “O”). British comedy troupe Spymonkey will bring “Spymonkey’s Cooped,” which is billed as a pulp Gothic romance.
Hot Scottish standup Danny Bhoy will be at fest with his one-man show, which will run July 16-22 at the Gesu Centre.
