CBS earns syndication record

Distrib has nine of the top 10 shows

CBS Television Distribution became the first syndicator to ever distribute nine of the top 10 rated strips during a single period, for the April 26 – May 23 sweep.

Distrib’s “Wheel of Fortune” (7.3 household rating), “Oprah Winfrey Show” (6.2), “Jeopardy!” (5.8), “Dr. Phil” (5.2), “Entertainment Tonight” (5.0), “Judge Judy” (4.5), “Everybody Loves Raymond” (4.5) and the off-net “CSI: Miami” (4.4) took the top eight sweep spots.

“Wheel of Fortune Weekend” edition took the tenth position with a 3.6, behind Sony’s “Seinfeld” with a 4.2.

Also during sweep, “Wheel of Fortune,” which took the top game show slot followed by “Jeopardy!”, was the number one show in syndication, averaging 10.8 million daily viewers for the sweep. Coming in second place in syndie was number one talker “Oprah.”

For the 43rd consecutive major sweep “Judge Judy” was the number one gavler followed by followed by “Judge Joe Brown” while “ET” and “The Insider” garnered the number one and two entertainment news mag slots. “ET” was the only first-run strip to grow year to year, up 2%.

Holding even with its May 2006 average, “Inside Edition garnered the number one news mag slot while “Raymond” was the top off-network sitcom and “CSI: Miami” was the number one weekly hour.
