LONDON — BBC Worldwide has tapped a former MTV Networks topper to run a key part of its global channels business.
John Taite will take over as director of programming, global channels, EMEA Sept. 24, when he will be responsible for the programming and scheduling strategies for all BBC Worldwide channels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
He will report to BBC global channels’ Dean Possenniskie, senior vice president, EMEA, and David Weiland, head of programming.
Said Possenniskie: “John brings to this role immense experience and expertise and I’m delighted that he is joining us in Global Channels at this time of unprecedented growth.”
During his five years at MTV, as director of scheduling and acquisitions for MTV Networks U.K. and Ireland, Taite helped commission hits such as “Pimp My Ride: UK,” “Footballer’s Cribs,” “Strutter” and “Virgin Diaries.”
