Argentine TV production house sold

Dutch company buys Cuatro Cabezas

BUENOS AIRES — Argentine production house Cuatro Cabezas is being sold to an undisclosed buyer.

Director and co-founder Diego Guebel declined to provide specifics of the deal.  However, he said the buyer is a Dutch company, and he and Mario Pergolini, who set up the company in 1993, will retain management for the next few years.

 Guebel and Pergolini have produced and exported series including satirical news roundup “Caiga Quien Caiga” (CQC), investigative reporting program “La Liga” (The Team) and on-the-scene hospital show “ER.”

It sells original formats including dating game “La Chica FX” and “Historia Secreta” (Secret History), a look at little known stories and facts in cities, to feevees in Latin America like HBO, TNT, Discovery, Fox and the History Channel.

 “CQC,” co-hosted by Pergolini, is a huge draw on Buenos Aires network Telefe and has been remade for Chile, France, Israel, Italy and Spain.

 Cuatro Cabezas has a 280-strong office in Buenos Aires and operations of 150 employees in Spain and 70 in Chile.
