Sony, Moonshot pair for Brazilian version
RIO DE JANEIRO — Pay TV channel Sony Entertainment Television and local producer Moonshot Pictures are making a local version of CBS reality show “America’s Next Top Model.”
The 12-episode “Brazil’s Next Top Model” is due to open in October in Latin America and air until December. Lensing will take place from August in Sao Paulo.
The local version will follow the same rules as the U.S. show. A panel led by a model plus three permanent members and a guest will eliminate one candidate per episode.
The winner will sign a contract with Ford Models, star in an ad campaign and be on the cover of a local magazine.
Moonshot produced the second and third seasons of the local version of “The Apprentice” for Brazil’s TV Record. It has also produced features in Brazil and abroad.
SET co-executive producer Alexandre David said the series is part of an effort initiated last year to produce shows in the main Latin American markets — Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Venezuela — taking advantage of tax incentives in these countries. David would not disclose the budget of “Brazil’s Next Top Model.”
