Star joint venture bows another net

Marathi-language channel will air 24-hour news

Media Content & Communications Services India, the joint venture between News Corp.’s Star group and Indian media conglom ABP, is to launch a Marathi-language news channel.

Web will serve the wealthy state of Maharashtra, which counts India’s biggest city, Mumbai, as its capital.

Star Majha (literally “My Star”) will be a 24-hour rolling news service topped edited by Rajiv Khandekar. Channel has built a network of local bureaus and will draw on Star News for Indian national news and Fox and Sky News networks for international feeds.
