A quiet place to talk became the most difficult thing to hunt down during the packed soiree for the Gotham bow of “The Hunting Party” on Wednesday night at Azza restaurant and lounge.
In the relatively quiet section of the venue, helmer-writer Richard Shepard explained why he decided to change the pic’s name from “Spring Break in Bosnia” to “The Hunting Party.”
“People were calling it ‘Springtime for Bosnia,’ so we thought, what is the point of having a title that is confusing?” Shepard said.
Hours later on Thursday afternoon, helmer and pic’s stars, including Richard Gere and Terrence Howard, celebrated again. This time at a lunch hosted by Bob and Harvey Weinstein at Brasserie Ruhlmann in Rockefeller Plaza.
Before the food was served, Howard explained how Harvey Weinstein helped him find the role.
“We had a meeting right after ‘Hustle & Flow’ came out, and he asked me what I wanted to do next,” said Howard. “I had just seen ‘The Matador’ and the collaboration between Shepard and Pierce Brosnan. So I told Harvey that I wanted to work with (Shepard), and nine months later I got a call about this project.”
