Billie club sports honors
HBO’s Ross Greenburg was among those honored as Billie Jean King served up a second set of her self-titled Billie Awards on April 11 at the Beverly Hilton.
The Women’s Sports Foundation’s kudofest/charity gala, which now has two years under its belt, fetes positive media portrayals of women in sports.
Besides Greenburg, who won for his continued focus on telling stories about women athletes, nods went to the MTV producers of “Made” and the Miramax film “The Heart of the Game.”
Other highlights included a Sharon Stone led charity auction — coin went to TK — and the musical stylings of Elton John, who performed a rousing set, dedicating “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word” to the Don Imus-scorned Rutgers women’s basketball team.
