Show goes on for ‘Midsummer’

Director Sullivan overcomes injury to attend

Director Dan Sullivan may have taken a nasty spill during rehearsals for the Public Theater’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” but it didn’t stop him from finishing his work on the production and partying at Belvedere Castle after the show’s Thursday debut in Central Park.

The players, including Laila Robins, Martha Plimpton and Keith David, relaxed at the castle with a crowd of legit stars and film personalities such as Tony-winner Michael Cerveris, thesp Jeff Goldblum and screenwriter Paul Schrader.

Public Theater artistic director Oskar Eustis said he was not surprised at Sullivan’s speedy recovery.

“I saw him 24 hours after the accident, and he wanted to pull the tubes out and get back to the show,” Eustis said — proving Sullivan believes in the old theater adage, the show must go on.
