Bollywood stars out for premiere
The appearance of Shah Rukh Khan, the reigning king of the Indian silver screen, caused a rush of hysteria at the Nov. 8 world premiere of his Bollywood epic “Om Shanti Om” at London’s Empire, Leicester Square.
Released to coincide with the Hindu festival of Diwali on Nov. 9, “Om Shanti Om” goes head to head with another major Bollywood competitor “Saawariya” in the U.K.
At the lunch time press launch preceding the evening premiere, a typically bullish Khan was adamant that “Om Shanti Om” would reign triumphant over “Saawariya,” saying, “competition is about believing there is something bigger and better out there. But I honestly believe there is no bigger or better film out there at the moment — so in my opinion, there is no competition.”
