NEW YORK — Brangelina brought more than just a host of hot Hollywood names with them on their latest trip to Gotham.
When the power couple hit the town on June 13 for the premiere of Michael Winterbottom‘s newest politically charged pic, “A Mighty Heart,” in which Angelina Jolie stars as the widow of slain Wall Street Journal writer Daniel Pearl, a cadre of high-profile media types and journos were sprinkled in amongst the stars.
But due to the pic’s somber subject matter, Paramount Vantage decided to host a tasteful Metropolitan Club “reception” after the pic unspooled at the mammoth Ziegfeld Theater, rather than a customarily clustered after-party.
Par Vantage topper John Lesher was breathing a sigh of relief now that the pic — shot in Pakistan and India — is ready to roll out.
“They just kept telling me to calm down,” said Lesher of the reports he was getting from the “Heart” set. “But everything was fine. No matter how nervous I was when (Winterbottom) told me he was going to shoot in Pakistan and India, (he) was the only director that could have done it.”
