Jodie Foster admitted at Monday’s Gotham preem for her new pic “The Brave One,” that she was confused by the film’s title.
“While it is a strong, provocative title, I just don’t know how to explain it.” Foster said. “What is brave about my character is that she has come to accept the shame of her humanity. So I think the title can be misleading because you think (her bravery is) going to be for this primitive reason but in fact it is quite an intellectual or ironic reason.”
Helmer Neil Jordan also confessed he wasn’t thrilled with the title but was happy with the audience’s energetic reaction to the film, which included lots of laughter and clapping.
“There are a lot of moments of humor so I was pleased people were laughing; but I was sort of surprised when they cheered at the killing sequences,” he said. “But this is America.”
