LAS VEGAS — George Clooney and crew were the big money bet in Sin City, as “Ocean’s Thirteen” kicked-off the 9th annual CineVegas Film Festival at the Palms Casino Resort on June 6. After navigating a sea of screaming cinephiles on the red carpet, Clooney dished on the future of “Ocean’s,” saying, “We’re done. We needed to do a good one and get out.” Matt Damon credited his return to the fold to Steven Soderbergh. “The best bet for career longevity is going with a director you trust,” Damon said. Ellen Barkin revealed on-set secrets: “Matt was naughty. George is legendary in his naughtiness.” Prior to the unspooling, Jerry Weintraub received the CineVegas Vanguard Producer nod. Holding the oversized disk in his hands, Weintraub quipped, “What if I put this on the craps table?” The event raised $1 million for Not on Our Watch for relief efforts in Darfur.
