Adelaide gets ‘Lucky’

Oz film fest opens shop

The biennial Adelaide Film Festival at the Academy Cinema kicked off Feb. 22 with the world preem of “Lucky Miles.” Screening was followed by an elegant party at Adelaide Town Hall attended by the crème of South Australian filmmakers, among them Rolf de Heer and Scott Hicks.

De Heer was awarded the Don Dunstan Award for contributions to the Australian film industry.

State premier Mike Rann took the opportunity to announce he’d stolen a moment on the red carpet to offer festival director Katrina Sedgwick another two-year contract.
